Fire Challenge

Forget meeting rooms and screens. On the Vercors trails, your team has one goal: mastering fire the ancestral way. To get there, you'll have to navigate in the wild, solve riddles hidden in the forest and collect the ingredients you need before your rivals do.

The Fire Challenge is a mountain navigation challenge turned into a collective adventure, led by the Pied Vert mountain leaders. With family, friends (birthday, hen/stag), or colleagues (retreat, team building), from 2 to 60 participants.

By day or by night, in Autrans, Villard-de-Lans, Corrençon or another Vercors village at the gateway to Grenoble.

In winter? Snowshoes on, the snow adds a pinch of magic.

How does it work?

1. Navigation briefing

The mountain leader goes through the basics: map reading, compass, natural landmarks. Just what you need to launch into the quest.

2. The team quest

Split into teams, you walk the Vercors trails. At each marker: a riddle or a physical challenge to take on. Each success earns you an ingredient you need to light your fire.

3. The fire trial

Back at base camp. With the ingredients gathered, each team tries to light its fire without any modern tool. Friction, percussion, patience. The first flame to catch wins.

At night, the adventure takes another shape: lit markers, headlamps on loan, and darkness that turns every trail into exploration ground. Get in touch to find out more.

• From how many people? From 2 to 60 participants.
• How long does the challenge last? About 2h30. Too long? We shorten. Too short? We crank up the difficulty.
• From what age? Designed for adults or families. Adaptable for young audiences (holiday club, school discovery trip).
• Where does it take place? In the wild, near your accommodation (hotel, guesthouse, holiday centre) in the Vercors: Villard-de-Lans, Autrans, Lans-en-Vercors, Corrençon, La Chapelle-en-Vercors, Vassieux… to limit travel.

Educational approach

Beyond the game, the Fire Challenge builds concrete skills:

• using a compass, a 1:25,000 map and an altimeter
• learning navigation techniques (sighting, azimuth, triangulation)
• reading hiking waymarks and forest markings
• managing your effort during a navigation challenge
