Head into the mountains to explore the wild life of Alpine ecosystems and try tracking by following the signs left by wild animals!
Taking an interest in mountain wildlife, tracking it and maybe spotting it, is genuinely absorbing.
On an outing on the trail of Vercors wildlife, your Pied Vert mountain leader will help you:
A list of the mountain animals whose signs we might come across:
And many more. Some of these Alpine animals are also found in lowland areas where nature is still preserved.
As long as we can take. A half day to discover the main signs and try basic tracking, a full day to go deeper into one species or another, or a 2-day hike or more to focus in detail on one or more species and maybe spot them on a hide at the best hours (dawn, dusk).
The technical and physical level of the walk or hike is adjusted to your group by your nature guide.
For an introductory outing, the forest near your accommodation (hotel, gîte, etc.) is a fine entry. For a focused outing (for example, the ibex), we pick a specific site depending on the animal's habitat.
Our knowledge of the Vercors leads us to run this nature activity around Villard-de-Lans, Corrençon, Lans, Autrans, Saint-Julien, Rencurel or near another village of the regional nature park.
If you are interested in one particular animal, we can put together a bespoke outing on it (the wolf, the marmot, the ibex, the chamois, the deer rut, the marmot, vultures, etc.).
You can book by phone (07 66 64 90 96) or by email (contactpiedvert.com ) directly with Pied Vert.
Sliding rates (indicative): from 30€/person for a group of 6 on a half day. See our rates.
In winter on the Vercors, the outing can be run on snowshoes.
Far more than just a snowshoe hike...★★★★★ Comment sent by jer allin Mayon GoogleFar more than just a snowshoe hike, Hugo from Pied Vert gave us a tour of the Vercors winter wildlife, from mountain hare to wolf, through tracks and leftovers from meals. A real detective investigation, off-piste in a stunning landscape and with a smile. Thanks to Pied Vert for sharing their love of nature as well as the challenges of co-existence between human activity and wildlife.
Snowshoe walk with friends with...★★★★★ Comment sent by Muriel Desbosin Mayon GoogleSnowshoe walk with friends with Ugo on 31/12 in the morning, through the snowy forest at the Col de la Croix Perrin. Ugo's explanations about all the animal tracks of this beautiful forest delighted us: pine marten, roe deer, even the tracks of a wolf pack. The story of the woodpecker and its holes. We ended 2024 in style in the middle of Mother Nature. Thanks Ugo!
