Winter mission: prevention, adventure and survival

Winter mission: prevention, adventure and survival

Come and learn the essential basics for moving safely in winter mountain conditions.

During this outing, we'll go through the key actions that help prevent risky situations, manage an emergency and respond effectively in case of an avalanche.

An ideal activity for anyone who wants to build their autonomy on snowy terrain, whether you walk occasionally or practise regularly.

We'll start by understanding the vital priorities in a distress situation: how to calmly read the situation, protect yourself from the cold, improvise a shelter, save energy and manage hypothermia.

You'll also learn how to make the most of your gear, melt snow safely and better anticipate winter conditions.

The second part is devoted to avalanche rescue.

After a presentation of the essential trio avalanche transceiver – shovel – probe, you'll run several practical exercises: victim search, group organisation, fine search, point zero, and effective shovelling techniques.

A final simulation lets you test your reflexes and consolidate what you've learnt in a safe, supervised setting.
